The Labour Inspection bodies check compliance with labour regulations in accordance with section 126(1) of the Act No. 435/2004 Coll., on Employment, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Employment Act") of

  • employers
  • legal and natural persons that carry out activities in accordance with this Act, in particular in employment intermediation and retraining
  • natural persons to whom services pursuant to this Act are provided  

these persons are then referred to as inspected persons

For the purposes of this Act, labour regulations mean legislation on employment and legislation on the protection of employees in the case of employer’s insolvency

In this area, the Labour Inspection bodies focus their inspection mainly on

  • illegal employment
  • covert employment mediation
  • employment of persons with disabilities and compliance with the mandatory proportion of employed persons with disabilities
  • equal treatment and prohibition of discrimination prior to an employment relationship

In addition to the above, the inspection activities of labour inspection bodies include

  • provision of child-care service in children's groups
  • performance of artistic, cultural, sports or advertising activities of a child  
  • whether the employer in insolvency has provided a list of outstanding wage claims of all its employees for the relevant period (Section 7(1) of Act No. 118/2000 Coll., on the Protection of Employees in the Event of Employer Insolvency)

The State Labour Inspection Office participates on activities of the European Labour Authority, that incorporated the European Platform to enhance cooperation in tackling undeclared work (ELA UDW).
